Available today Notch is now available on the Mac App Store. Free to download, and it works with your existing Notch account.
Since launching Notch, one request has come up again and again: "When are you getting a real app?"
We've heard you loud and clear. The team has been hard at work over the last several weeks and today we're excited to bring you Notch on Mac. The same web application you know and love - now with the ability to edit local files directly on your computer.

The Same Notch, Built For Your Mac
A standing complaint with users on our competitors is that the mac and iOS apps are a washed down version of their windows or web app. With Notch you're getting the full editing experience, built as a real Mac app, on the same account and the same workspace you already use:
- Markup. Arrows, clouds, shapes, text, stamps and signatures.
- Measure. Set your scale and pull lengths, areas, perimeters and counts straight off the drawing. Send it to the Worksheet or out to Excel.
- Organize. Insert, split, extract, rotate and reorder pages.
- Compare. Overlay two revisions and see what changed.
- Collaborate. See your teammates' cursors and markups as they work, and leave comments right where the problem is.
What You Asked For
- Open PDFs from Finder. Use File → Open (⌘O), Open Recent, or drag a PDF onto the window. Notch also shows up in Open With for any PDF.
- Work offline. Choose Keep on this device from a document's menu to take it with you. Anything you change without a connection is saved and syncs when you're back online.
- Feels like a Mac app. Copy, cut, paste and undo work the way they do everywhere else on your Mac, and right-click brings up the menu for whatever you clicked.
Your Account, Your Plan
Sign in with Apple, Google, Microsoft or email — the same account you use on the web. Your workspace, documents and plan come with you. Nothing to move, nothing to set up twice.
New to Notch? Start on the free plan, or start a 14-day free trial of Solo or Pro right in the app.
Getting Started
- Download Notch from the Mac App Store.
- Sign in with your Notch account, or create one.
- Open a document from your workspace, or drag a PDF in from Finder.
Availability and Details
- Requires macOS 14.4 or later.
- Notch on the web isn't going anywhere. Use whichever suits the day — your work is the same in both.
What's Next?
Our plan with the application is to continue to enhance it. We intend to issue weekly updates to the app to help it keep pace with our web platform. Expect new releases on a weekly cadence to introduce new features and fix bugs. Our iOS (iPhone and iPad) apps are currently pending review and should be released shortly.
A Very Special Thank You
Over the last two months we've had overwhelmingly positive feedback on Notch. This app exists because you kept asking for it. Keep the feedback coming — tell us what's working, what isn't, and what you want next. We read every message, and the roadmap is shaped by what you send us.
