Egnyte + Notch

Egnyte is a modern file sharing service for design, engineering and construction teams. Connect your account, mark drawings up in Notch, and publish the marked-up set back onto the same file.

Connecting Egnyte

Enter your domain

Workspace settings → Integrations → Connect on Egnyte. Sign in at acme.egnyte.com? Your domain is acme.

Browse Shared and import

Hit Import, pick Egnyte, walk down from Shared, and take the sheets you want.

Stay in sync, both ways

Notch checks the source file and flags new revisions; publish updates that same file in Egnyte with your markups as a new version.

What Notch can access

Read-only, acting as you. The connection can never reach anything your own Egnyte account can’t.

Notch can

List folders and drawings under Shared that your account can open
Download a file you select to import it, and re-check it for new revisions
Publish your markups back to a file you imported, as a new version of that file (Egnyte keeps every prior version)
Read your name and email, to label the connection

Notch cannot

Rename, move, or delete your Egnyte files, or touch any file you didn't import into Notch
Change permissions, or open a folder your account can't
Act as anyone but the person who connected

Why do you ask for my domain first?

Egnyte gives every customer their own address and their own sign-in page. We need to know which one to send you to.

A folder is listed but I can't open it. Why?

Egnyte permissions are set per folder and don't inherit from the folder above, so a folder you can see isn't always one you can open. Your Egnyte admin can grant it.

Does publishing overwrite the drawing in Egnyte?

No — it adds a new version of that same file, and Egnyte keeps every earlier one in its version history. Importing alone changes nothing; publishing is a separate click you make.

Does importing use a seat?

Importing adds documents, so it needs an editor seat on a paid plan — same rule as uploading. Browsing is free.
