Comments & discussion
Talk about a drawing with your team — messages, pinned comments, replies, reactions, @mentions, and unread.
Every document has its own conversation. The Discussion panel in the right sidebar holds team chat and comments pinned to spots on the drawing in one feed, so the talk about a set stays with the set.
Message the team#
Open Discussion and type in Message the team… — it's posted for everyone who can open the document. Each message is a thread: hover it to reply or add a reaction. You can delete your own messages (workspace admins can delete any).
Pin a comment to the drawing#
Click the pin button beside the message box, then click the spot on the drawing. Write your comment in the box that opens there. The pin stays on the sheet, and the comment appears in the Discussion feed too:
- click a pin on the drawing to open its thread right there;
- in the feed, Reveal on the page jumps to the pin.
@mentions#
Type @ to mention a teammate — they get a notification on the bell, even if they've never opened the drawing. Mention @Notch AI to bring the assistant into the thread; it replies there for everyone to see (see Notch AI).
Unread#
New messages show a blue dot — on the thread, on the Discussion button, on the document's tab, and on its card in the library. Open the panel and a New divider marks where you left off. The panel's ⋯ menu has Mark all as read.
Comment pins vs. discussion#
The Comment tool (N) in the Text flyout is different: it drops a note markup — a pin whose text you edit in Properties, styled and exported like any other markup. Use the Discussion panel when you want a conversation; use a comment pin when the note belongs on the drawing itself.
On every plan and in the apps#
Discussion works on every plan, Free included. The iPhone, iPad and Mac apps have the same panel — on iPhone it's the Comments tab in Panels. A drawing on your device's Local Drive needs Upload to Cloud before it can have comments.
