Stamps, custom tools & signatures

Stamps are the fastest markup there is — one click for APPROVED. Notch ships a standard set, lets you build your own tool library, and handles signatures as first-class citizens.

The Tool chest#

Every stamp and preset tool lives in the Tool chest: open it from its button at the foot of the tool rail, or from Tools in the right sidebar. It docks beside the drawing in two parts:

• Custom — your team's own: Stamps (plus a section for each stamp group), Workspace tools shared with everyone, and My tools, which only you see.
• Built in — the libraries Notch ships: Drafting, Wall types, Doors & windows, Materials, Furniture, the MEP trades, Civil, Landscape, and Construction.

Tools you pin, and the ones you've used lately, sit on the shelf at the top, and the filter box finds any tool by name.

Built-in stamps#

The Drafting library in the Tool chest carries the standard review stamps under its Review group: APPROVED, REVIEWED, FOR REVIEW, REVISED, NOT FOR CONSTRUCTION, VOID, and DRAFT. Pick one and click the sheet to place it; placed stamps move, resize, and restyle like any markup. The same library also holds drafting symbols and tags (north arrow, section and detail references, grid bubbles, room and door tags, keynotes) and drawing-convention line types (centreline, section cut, match, grid, and break lines).

Placing stamps#

Stamps, symbols, signatures and text stamps stay armed after each drop, so you can click to place as many as you need. Press Esc or V (or pick another tool) to stop.

To turn a stamp while you place it, press R (90° clockwise) or Shift+R (back) — the preview turns with it. With a stamp armed, Properties shows its Rotation: type an angle or use the buttons, and every drop lands at that angle until you change tools.

Properties also sets how the stamp looks before you place it: Flip horizontal and Flip vertical, Tint (custom stamps and signatures — recolour the linework, the paper stays white) and Opacity. The preview shows the result, and every stamp you drop gets it until you change tools.

Your own tools and stamps#

Resources (in the workspace sidebar, on the web and in the apps) is the stamp library. From there you can add:

• Image stamps — upload an SVG, PDF or Bluebeam .btx (one stamp or a whole sheet). Notch splits a sheet into stamps, reads their scale so they place at real size, and can bring them in as original colours, greyscale or black & white.
• Text stamps — your own stamp wording, styled like the built-ins.

Anyone in the workspace can add stamps for the team. Organise them into groups ("Office furniture", "Printers"): New group at the top of Resources, then drag stamps onto a group — or tick several and use Move to. Each group gets its own section on Resources and in the editor's Tool chest. Open a stamp to rename it, change its group, set its real width, turn it off, or delete it. Placed stamps can be tinted in the Properties panel.

Saved tools#

Style a markup on the canvas the way you want it, then use Save as tool… in the Properties panel and give it a name. Choose My tools to keep it for yourself, or Workspace to share it with the team under Workspace tools (workspace owners and admins only). A text markup can also be saved as a stamp. Saved tools carry their style — and, for measurements, their cost code, division and display unit.

Signatures#

Press X (or Add signature… in the Text flyout) the first time: draw your signature on the pad or type it in a script font. It's saved to your account, so from then on placing it is one click.

Signatures are personal — teammates never see yours in their tool rail. Manage them (add more, delete old ones) under Settings → Resources → Signatures. Deleting a saved signature never touches the ones already placed on drawings.

A placed signature is a picture of your signature. To seal a PDF so others can verify who signed it, create a digital ID on the same Signatures page and export with Digitally sign — see Exporting & digital signatures.
