Managing pages

Reorder, insert, rotate, rename, duplicate, extract, split and delete sheets in Organize — markups follow along.

Sheets get added, superseded, rotated, and reshuffled constantly. Every change to a document's pages happens in one place, Organize — a full-screen grid of the set where you stage your changes and apply them together. Your markups and measurements stay glued to their pages through every change.

Open Organize#

  • Organize at the top of the sheet navigator,
  • Organize in the n menu, or Shift+Ctrl+O (⇧⌘O on Mac),
  • or Organize in a document's ⋯ menu in the library.

The pages fill the editor as a grid. The slider at the bottom sets the thumbnail size, and Space previews the selected page large.

Select and arrange#

Click a page to select it; Shift- or Ctrl-click to select several, or Ctrl+A for all. Drag pages to reorder them — a drop line shows where they'll land. On a phone, use Move to… instead.

With pages selected, the bar offers Move to…, Rename (F2, one page), Rotate left / right ([ and ]), Duplicate (Ctrl+D), Extract… and Delete.

Insert pages#

Insert in the toolbar adds pages:

  • From document… — pages from any other document in the workspace.
  • Blank page… — one or more blank pages.

Extract and split#

  • Extract… turns the selected pages into a new document. You can Delete from this document as you go, Save as separate files (one document per page), and Copy markups along with them.
  • Split… cuts the set into several new documents: click the scissors between two pages, or Cut every N pages. This document isn't changed, and markups aren't copied.

Apply, discard, or save as new#

Nothing changes until you choose:

  • Apply N changes writes them to the document. Deleting pages asks first, and says how many markups and measurements go with them.
  • Discard puts the pages back the way they're saved.
  • Save as… writes the reordered set as a new document and leaves this one as it was.

Ctrl+Z undoes your last step while you're still organizing. Esc clears the selection, or leaves Organize.

Markups follow their pages#

Every operation re-anchors the overlay content for you: reorder a sheet and its markups and measurements travel with it, rotate it and they rotate too, duplicate a page and its markups are cloned, delete a page and they go with it. You never re-place annotations after a page edit.
